THE
Because loving someone in medicine doesn’t have to be quite so lonely
What is the Med Partner Post?
We are a monthly snail mail club designed for partners of those in medicine.
More than just words.
You’re joining a community.
I can’t tell you the amount of times I’ve thought, surely there’s someone else out there who feels this way. Let’s make our experience a little less isolated.
Connection through story.
Each month, you will recieve a curated piece of mail with stories of support, inspriation, frustration, and encouragement. Feel more seen and a little less alone while navigating a relationship through med school, residency, and beyond.
Tools, Tips, and Tricks.
As a therapist who goes to therapy…
I will be the first person to tell you there is no easy fix. However, I want to share what has worked for me with others who are in the same boat.
Each post, I’ll share action items to try, mindsets to embrace, and tools that might help.
Imagine…on a particularly lonely or frustrating week, heading to the mailbox and receiving your beautiful piece of mail. You open it alongside other med partners across the country who are also going through this shared, sometimes challenging, experience of medical relationships.
Maybe a part of you feels seen, or hopeful, or a little less lonely.
Hi! I’m Mckenzie
I’m a therapist, outdoor adventurer, dog mom…and…although I try not to let it define me, I’m also the partner of a first-year medical resident.
The past four years of loving someone in medical school were a journey, to say the least. For a long time I resisted this reality and the unique challenges I have had to navigate. Medical relationships are fundamentally different and most tools meant for “normal” relationships don’t apply. We endure unrelenting hours, uncertainty, loneliness, sacrifice, moving, and a lot of stress - you know the drill.
I still remember the first time I connected with someone else in a medical relationship and had that aha moment of understanding, “Wait, you feel this way too?!” Since then, I’ve become more aware of how many shared experiences exist among med partners, and how often those experiences go unspoken.
This mail club is a place to foster connection. To feel seen through shared stories. To lighten the emotional load, even just a little, and offer a moment each month that reminds you: we’re in this together.
I hope that in every letter, every story, you’ll find a piece of yourself and feel a little less alone…even if your partner is on day six of night shifts.
I don’t want this to be a one-sided conversation. I want to hear your stories, your reflections, and your voices too!
I’m so glad you’re here, and I can’t wait for you to be part of this community.
How it works
Once a month, members will receive a curated piece of snail mail. Each envelope is meant to feel like a care package from a friend.
Imagine, on a particularly lonely or frustrating day, opening a letter alongside hundreds of other people across the country who are also going through this shared experience of a medical relationship.
Our post serves as a small reminder that you are not alone.
A heartfelt letter rooted in authenticity & connection
A featured Story of the Month inspired by our monthly theme and written by a fellow med partner post member
A therapy-informed insight with an action item or skill to practice
A thoughtfully crafted journal prompt to spark reflection
Maybe a little surprise here or there :)
