I’m Mckenzie and this is my side kick Frank. Being the partner of a medical student/resident has been so hard, so good, and very life-changing - all at the same time.

For the first few years, I struggled against the forces of the relationship. I wanted my partner to be able to travel for weddings and reunions, I wanted more time, more emotional availability, and to be able to make future plans. I had to learn that some of these forces, you just can’t change. Luckily, we have learned (for the most part) how to navigate the flow of a medical relationship.

What has helped me the most, however, is building community around it.

After moving for residency I have kept thinking, someone else out there must be going through the same thing, right? Other people have also moved to a new place, sacrificed career, community, and timelines.

So, I am on a mission to find all of you and create the community we desire.
